This poster was created for Half Price Books' Murder Mystery Mondays event: where thriller book lovers gather weekly to help solve mysteries with themes from classic novels. This poster features an eye-catching blood splatter that may seem out of place at first, but as the viewer approaches they may notice things hidden along the splatter. There is informational text about the event incorporated into the splatter, and the user can utilize the magnifying glass located alongside the poster to search for "clues" about the event. A QR code is also provided for additional information.

During my creation of this poster for The Shining, I looked for imagery that not only tied into my quote, but I also wanted to allude to the plot of the movie with my execution. At the part in the movie where my quote comes in, the little boy in the movie writes "redrum" all over the walls in red crayon. I decided to stay true to the way the movie displayed the words and hand-letter the font in my own "possessed" red crayon lettering. As for the path that I wrote the type along, I used the shape of the hedge maze in the movie. The hedge maze is important symbolism in the movie as it represents Jack's descent into madness and is an important location in the plot. These choices combined with Stanley Kubrick's classic title lettering reached my goal of making the poster tie into the plot elements of the movie and match the visual language.
